Home improvement enthusiasts looking to 'bring the outside in' this year

A nature inspired look is in vogue for DIY enthusiasts this year, according to one home improvement expert.

Simon Errill of Stonehouse Tiles claimed that the use of natural materials such as solid wood flooring and stone in the home is becoming an increasingly popular trend in 2010.

Mr Errill said that many renovators are looking to add an earthy environment to their homes. The use of wood floors or stone tiles in kitchens is especially good at achieving this affect, he noted.

He went on to say: "If you're concerned with creating too minimal a look then add a mosaic pattern into a work surface or on a floor to break up the colour and add a focal point."

This divergence from minimalist trends was also noted in a Telegraph article by Katrina Boroughs. She said that paint and fabric manufacturers are aiming to challenge the country's love of neutral palettes with new "brazen" colour schemes.
