Green home improvements plan 'is a brilliant proposition'
The government's plan to allow householders to Pay As You Save when they carry out green home improvements has been described as a "brilliant proposition".
A new energy bill from the Department of Energy and Climate Change will aim to improve the energy efficiency of both businesses and homes in the UK.
The Great British Refurb Campaign has been quick to voice its support for the government's plan, adding that it was pleased to see green living featuring high on the manifestos for all three of the main political parties before last month's general election.
Simon McWhirter, campaign director at the Great British Refurb Campaign, said: "Home energy refurbishment should be easy, affordable and attractive."
However, he said at the moment this is far from the case, because green home improvements can currently be difficult and expensive.
"We have got a very tough carbon budget to meet and we simply can't do it without tackling homes very quickly," he added.
