Green home improvements 'cost less than £3,000'
Homeowners who want to make their house greener but are worried about the cost can rest easier after the release of new analysis.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, making a home more energy efficient can cost as little as £3,000.
However, the organisation found that the older the house is, the more money it is likely to cost to make it greener.
With the average UK property having an energy rating of D, property owners with E or F- rated houses may be tempted to spend money on home improvement projects such as adding insulation and oak wood floors.
David Weatherall, housing strategy manager for the Energy Saving Trust, said: "Most F and G-rated homes can be improved very cost-effectively, for less than £3,000.
"That's less than 2 per cent of the sale price of the average UK home."
Project manager and developer Sophie Jackson recently told the Daily Telegraph that carrying out major home improvements on her Yorkshire property helped to double its value.
