'Go green' on products like wood flooring
Consumers should increasingly opt for sustainability when choosing products such as wood flooring.
This is according to Ethical Consumer Magazine's co-editor Dan Welch, who believes that environmentally-conscious homeowners should always attempt to find the greenest option.
"Buy smarter. There's almost always a greener, more ethical choice, whether it's energy efficient electrical goods, organic cotton clothing or simply buying from a company that's genuinely doing its best," he said.
Mr Welch went on to advise homeowners that a little bit of time spent online can yield great results.
He pointed to websites such as the Energy Saving Trust and his own organisation, which recommend efficient products and rate all types of items.
Mr Welch's advice follows a range of tips from green retailer Nigel's Eco Store, which recently published a variety of hints on sustainable Christmas products.
Its suggestions included using electronic Christmas cards, opting for an organic turkey and monitoring the use of fairy lights.
