'Get a refresher' when installing wood flooring

Homeowners seeking to install wood flooring in their property have been advised to refresh their knowledge on the basics of renovation work.

Writing for Canadian publication the Star, columnist Dominique Jarry-Shore provided a range of tips for those considering undertaking DIY tasks on a property.

She spoke about her husband's recent wood flooring installation and advised homeowners to brush up on their knowledge.

"Get a refresher on how to do basic repairs and renovations. Check out DIY videos online," Mrs Jarry-Shore said.

She went on to explain that despite her husband's working knowledge of power tools and carpentry, it helped to spend some time speaking to a flooring expert at a local retailer.

Mrs Jarry-Shore warned homeowners not to get overwhelmed when making structural alterations to a home, particularly one which is rented.

In a recent Yourhome.ca article, Marc Atiyolil claimed that the use of coverings can often be beneficial in homes with wood floors.
