Gardens are a 'key aspect' of home improvement
According to one expert, gardens should be a big part of any homeowner's renovation plans.
Gerry Frederick reports in the Daily Townsman that, as well as being pretty, gardens can add value to a home and even save money.
He claimed planting vegetables which would normally be bought at a store would bring enjoyment to homeowners, in addition to providing ingredients for meals.
Mr Frederick also promoted gardening as a fairly cheap way to add significant value to a home, although he acknowledged some landscaping tasks might require the help of a contractor.
He said: "If you think you want a change, then it's easy to change a garden, where it is more difficult to change a deck or walkway."
Mr Frederick's advice follows a similar report from the Soil Association last month. It claimed that growing your own food in a garden could be both fun and educational, making it an ideal project to do with the kids during the summer holidays.
