Future trends in kitchen designs investigated by expert

Following a recent industry event in Italy, home improvement writer Janita Singh has looked at some of the key trends the event highlighted.

Kitchen design is no longer as simple as adding laminate flooring and some of the new designs shown at the event will provide great inspiration for renovators, she explained.

The Eurocucina kitchen fair took place in Milan and showcased a range of kitchen designs, from cutting edge to classic.

In an article for Australian news provider Northside, Ms Singh noted that one prevalent theme this year was the convergence of kitchen and living room.

She said of the trend: "The open kitchen trend, in which the kitchen is integrated with the living space, will continue, thanks to our increasingly fragmented world."

Despite flushes of colour seeping into some designs, Ms Singh predicted that natural palettes would remain popular.

Similar trends were noted last month by bedroom specialist Warren Evans. He said that matching colours could often spruce up a room, adding to its sense of spaciousness.
