Free-standing baths recommended to DIYers

Householders who are looking to inject a touch of glamour into their homes have been told to think about installing a free-standing bath in their property.

According to the Essential Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Magazine, despite space becoming more and more important for most homeowners, many still want a bath in their bathroom.

The publication's editor Ronnie Whelan commented: "The fre- standing baths are definitely a desirable item and give your bathroom a more luxurious look - an oversized bath always makes a show-stopping focal point."

She added that for those who do not want to splash the cash on a new bath, a walk-in shower could be another option worth pursuing, as these have "universal appeal".

Ms Whelan was speaking after research by Buster revealed that one in six people cannot remember the last time they took the time out to have a soak in the tub.

The cleaning firm also discovered more than half would take a bath if they had the time.
