Flooring among the 'easiest and least expensive' ways to update a room
Changes to flooring, along with paint and lighting alterations, are among the quickest and most cost-effective ways to update a room, according to one interior design expert.
In an article for the Kansas City Star, Debbie Arrington investigated easy ways to transform a room and talked to experts about some easy steps homeowners could take.
"Where to start? Paint, lighting and flooring are three of the easiest, quickest and least expensive ways to update a room," she said.
Her advice echoes the sentiments of an Independent article which advised renovators that changes costing as little as £50 could yield huge home improvement benefits.
Interior designer Jennifer FaGalde told the Star that 2010 has been her busiest year. When she is working, she prefers to start with the basics and mentioned recent builds where easy changes to the lighting and floors had "transformed the space".
She went on to claim that finding "indoor harmony" was a growing challenge for interior designers, due to more people investing money in their own home rather than moving.
