DIYers 'more confident with self-build shelving'

More and more people are buying self-build storage solutions on the internet, showing that DIYers are becoming braver with their purchases.

According to online shelving store Shop4Shelves, buying DIY materials via the net means home improvers can save money without compromising on the quality of the materials.

Joeri Decae, sales director at the firm, said: "The increase in home-based working and people needing to make better use of living space is a major focus and growth area.

"Everyone needs to store work, living and leisure items in the home."

As well as DIYers, the products sold by Shop4Shelvers are becoming increasingly popular among tradespeople such as builders, who use the storage solutions for their tools.

Andy Gerrard, owner of Stockport-based The DIY School, recently told the Ecologist that more and more women are learning about using tools for home improvements.

He explained that many of these people are those who have recently been divorced from their husbands and have never carried out DIY work before.
