DIY upgrade could raise property value, claims expert

It has long been known that DIY upgrades such as laminate flooring are just one of the many ways homeowners can add value to their property.

However, property expert Phil Spencer has recently stated that more work from the owner may be required to increase the value of real estate.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Mr Spencer explained that unemployment rates are set to rise following recent cuts in the public sector, affecting house prices Mr Spencer also emphasised the value of taking action to refurbish your property and creating extra value.

He said: "You can't just sit back and wait for your house to make you enough money to move on. You are going to have to take active steps to create that value yourself."

Mr Spencer is a property expert famous for his decade of working alongside Kirstie Allsopp on popular lifestyle programme Location, Location, Location.
