DIY gender gap 'is clearly closing'
More women could be taking charge of wood flooring as new research has revealed they are increasingly turning to DIY as a way to save money and express their creativity.
A study conducted by Bosch found that nearly 80 per cent of women surveyed said they enjoyed carrying out home improvements.
DIY expert for Bosch Chris Tidy believes that home design is a "reflection" of the tastes of the person who carried it out.
"The DIY gender gap is clearly closing. However … it's interesting to see that women are using DIY instead as a way to express creativity in the home," he said.
These findings follow a survey by Halifax which revealed that many homeowners are taking to DIY in an effort to save money during the current turbulent economic climate.
But, results from Bosch's research also indicate that some women are shying away from DIY due to a lack of confidence.
It also found that many of those who shied away from home improvements avoided tackling practical jobs because they had "little faith" in their DIY skills.
