Discoloured laminate flooring 'can be repaired'
Laminate flooring which has lost its colour can be repaired, one expert has suggested.
Writing for mysteinbach.ca, home improvement columnist Reena Nerbas responded to the query of one reader whose laminate flooring had become discoloured in places through constant abrasion.
Ms Nerbas advised the reader on a number of ways to tackle this problem, noting that scratching can be fixed through the use of special wax crayons, designed to treat small imperfections.
"However, since the flooring has actually lost its colour you will need to replace the floor plank in order for the floor to look nice again," she said.
Ms Nerbas went on to note that this is "achievable" as long as the new plank can be colour-matched to the existing laminate flooring.
Flooring Guide's advice on caring for laminate flooring states that one of the material's main benefits is its durability. It claimed that many major retailers offer "touch up kits" for small repairs.
