Couple reveal results of wood flooring renovation project

A Canadian couple have revealed the results of the hard work they put into a home improvement project which saw their home's wood flooring revitalised.

Writing for the Ottawa Citizen, columnist Patrick Langston reported on the efforts of Lisa Grand and Andrew Grant, who have spent the past year renovating their 1960s bungalow.

When they first encountered the property there was a range of issues including boxy rooms, a "nasty" rec room in the basement and an entrance which was lacking in aesthetics.

The couple set to work and pulled up the existing floor and reused old materials to replace it.

In a novel twist, they also installed the wood floors in a diagonal direction, in an effort to reduce the "boxy" feel of the home.

Earlier in the month, the Democrat and Chronicle promoted the use of reclaimed wood flooring, noting that it can give a property a "distinct" look.
