Consumers urged to be cautious over show home's wood flooring

Consumers have been told to beware when viewing show homes which feature additions such as wood flooring, as they may not be a standard feature of new developments.

A recent guide in the Express and Star notes the increasing popularity of new home developments and highlighted a number of things for buyers to consider when eyeing a new property.

It observed that while costing more, new builds often pay back dividends in terms of low maintenance costs, but also explained that many homeowners took issue with them due to a lack of character.

The guide went on to explain that developers will often try to "pre-sell" new properties by using furnished models of the floor plans on offer to consumers but urged caution when encountering amenities such as wood flooring.

"Always be aware that show homes are highly upgraded and will not necessarily depict the standard finishes for floor coverings, countertops, appliances, fixtures, etc.

According to Home.co.uk, those purchasing a new property face a huge financial decision and it warned consumers that buying homes in Britain is a "notoriously drawn-out business".
