Adding insulation 'improves energy rating of a home'
Householders who want to improve the energy rating of their property have been advised to consider insulating their property.
Dr Hasim Altan from the University of Sheffield stated that this change can be a "fundamental" part of aiming for the highest possible energy rating of A*.
However, he explained that property owners will need to do more than just carry out home improvements to achieve this.
He said: "In order to get an A* rating they need to go further than that and perhaps link behavioural changes."
Dr Altan added that homeowners who are unsure of the energy rating their house is currently at can find this out by examining their bills for gas and electricity.
He said weatherproofing could be another way for householders to improve their energy rating and to save money on their bills in the long run.
Dr Altan recently released a report that revealed Great Bow Yard in Somerset is the most energy-efficient street in the UK.
