£1m home improvement loans awarded in Windsor and Maidenhead

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has announced that it has awarded £1 million of home improvement loans.

Homeowners have applied for the funds in order to complete work such as adding wood flooring, repairing roofs and replacing suites in bathrooms and kitchens.

Green home improvements such as adding loft and wall insulation were also popular among those who were approved for the loans.

Councillor Simon Dudley, lead member for adult and community services, stated that the home improvement loan scheme had been "extremely popular".

He said: "Its success certainly reinforces our commitment to helping our more senior residents reap the benefits that home improvements can bring as they approach or enjoy retirement."

Cllr Dudley added that many people who have taken advantage of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's offer have got in touch to give positive feedback about the scheme.

This comes shortly after television property expert Phil Spencer told the Press and Journal that householders carrying out home improvements should look to add value.
