Expert recommends wood floors for durability

One home improvement expert has suggested that wood floors can be a great selection for homeowners seeking durability.

Writing in response to a query in the Philadelphia Inquirer Al Heavens suggested that there was a range of durable flooring available to cope with all the "hard wear" of a modern household.

He claimed that wood flooring had moved into its own as a durable material and was becoming an increasingly popular choice for floors.

Mr Heavens spoke about "times past" when many builders were reluctant to recommend wood flooring because of worries concerning warping due to moisture.

However, he explained that this issue has been largely eliminated, thanks to the use of modern preservatives.

Hardwood flooring was one of his top recommendations for aesthetics and he advised Brazillian Cherry as a popular choice.

Mr Heavens' comments echo the sentiments expressed by the Press and Journal's flooring guide, which suggested that consumers now have "endless" choices when it comes to flooring.
