Engineered wood floors 'not all the same'

A new guide to wood products has noted the differences between different types of engineered wood floors.

Writing for PostMedia News, Mike Holmes stated his love of manufactured wood products, including wood flooring.

However, he claimed that it was important to note the differences between the various types of engineered wood, in addition to knowing how to care for it properly.

"Ideally, all your wood will be kiln-dried and stored in a moisture-controlled environment before it gets to your site. Also, you want to make sure it's kept dry on site," he said.

His advice echoes the sentiments of a recent Kansas City infoZine article, which highlighted the potential problems homeowners could face if their wood is damaged by moisture.

Mr Holmes went on to promote the uses of tough new wood products. He also praised the versatility of classic wood products.
