Engineered wood flooring 'is stable'

Engineered wood flooring has been hailed as a great option for homeowners seeking to renovate.

The material is created using a modern approach, with one to three layers of hardwood placed on top of a core made of soft wood, an Express and Star guide reports.

Some of the benefits of engineered wood floors include its resistance to moisture and the way in which its layered construction restricts its movement.

"Although it is not made up of 100 per cent hardwood, engineered flooring is more resistant to moisture and is therefore more stable," said the guide.

It also noted that many manufacturers offer products which click together, making installing the material easy for those who do not have DIY expertise.

Those seeking to fit engineered wood flooring may wish to take advantage of a new website recently launched by the National Wood Flooring Association in the US.

It provides a range of tips for installing all types of wood floors and offers guides on which material to choose.
