Engineered wood flooring has 'beauty'

Engineered wood flooring has been promoted for its beauty in a new guide to the best flooring products.

Writing in the Calgary Herald, columnist Gerald Vander Pyl said that engineered wood flooring is perfect for homeowners living in areas afflicted by uncertain climates.

"Engineered hardwood combines the beauty of real wood with a layered construction that is more suitable for difficult climates like Calgary's," he said.

Mr Vander Pyl went on to note that rugs can often be used to complement a range of flooring types.

He also highlighted the benefits of vinyl flooring, claiming it has become "high style" and noted that new and improved brands can be used to imitate other flooring materials including stone, hardwood and tile.

Mr Vander Pyl's comments echo the sentiments of floor covering retailer Carpetright. Last month, it claimed that vinyl flooring has recently experienced a surge in popularity due to a move away from linoleum.
